About Rumy Travel Blog

Hi there, My name is Rumy, and I'm passionate about traveling and photography. So far, I've visited four continents and dipped my toes in four different oceans.
When I travel solo, I fully immerse myself in the local culture and way of life, gaining a deeper understanding of the people and their stories. I love collecting anecdotes and sharing the experiences I gather along the way. I want to inspire other women to explore the world without fear by sharing my journey as a solo female traveler. If I can do it, so can you.
Join me as I embark on a journey of self-discovery through travel. Let's enjoy the adventure together.

My Story
I grew up in a sheltered environment in India and mostly traveled with my family. In India, girls are often encouraged to pursue a professional degree and then focus on marriage. However, I chose a different path—I wanted to experience the world on my own terms. As someone once said, “We travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us

Traveling gives me a sense of freedom; I truly experienced - “when you don't own anything, nothing owns you, and you can live without limits.”

Creative Me
My camera is my constant travel companion, inspiring me to venture out on solo trips. It allows me to capture the essence of each city—the history, character, traditions, and the warmth of its people. While I'm not much of a painter or writer, "photography is the story" I express when words and canvases fall short.
Yogic Me
I once practiced Vipassana for ten days, a meditation technique that promotes self-transformation through self-observation. This method was discovered by Gautama Buddha over 2,600 years ago. During Vipassana, I learned the importance of turning inward to discover your true, authentic self.
Coach Me
I am a certified NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) practitioner and a certified hypnotherapist. NLP and traveling shaped the person I am today. I help individuals undergoing personal transformation overcome self-defeating thoughts and embrace positive change.
Geeky Me
I have a full-time job, and my travel blog is my passion project. Although my career as a software professional doesn't offer much time off, it hasn’t stopped me from pursuing my love for travel. Recently, I took a three-month sabbatical to rediscover myself. As the Holstee Manifesto says, “Travel often; getting lost will help you find yourself.
Introvert Me
I am naturally quiet, shy, and introverted. I could easily spend an entire weekend curled up on my couch, binge-watching TV shows. I enjoy being around chatty friends because I find casual conversation challenging. Yet, I also love long drives, a good cup of coffee, and listening to loud music.
Adventure Me
I’ve completed a full marathon, bungee jumped in New Zealand, scuba-dived in the deep seas of Malaysia and Mexico, floated above Turkey while parasailing, hiked through backcountry trails, slept under the stars in Utah, and climbed several peaks.

I've had my share of adventurous mishaps—. I've stumbled and failed, but I've always come back stronger. I thrive on "off-the-beaten-path" journeys. As Mark Twain said, “Do the thing you fear the most, and the death of fear is certain."
